The mind, emotions and body are intricately connected, yet we try to treat discomfort, illness and disease separately. This will never work, at least in terms of long term healing. People will get an adjustment at the chiropractor or some deep tissue work from a massage therapist to address their sore and aching body, but unwilling or unknowingly don’t address the larger underpinning of their physical discomfort. This underpinning or root cause can be found in mental and emotional patterns. Most of these patterns aka programs come from childhood. Let’s face it none of us had a perfect childhood. In all honesty, our parents did the best they could with their shortcomings. Unfortunately, these shortcomings get passed on. It is what I have come to call “passing the poisonous apple.”

If we focus on one aspect of our body, or life for that matter, we miss seeing and fully understanding ourselves and the world around us. My journey of awakening to and understanding the BIG picture started in 1995 when I was in massage school. I figured out rather quickly that there was a lot more going on when someone had a symptom than just what was presenting itself. It sent me on an intense 15 year search. I can’t tell you how many things I have studied. I studied Anatomy to understand the body, Zen to understand the mind and many things in between.

A couple of years ago I started seeing the big picture. It started clicking in my mind. I started seeing the mind and body as one. No longer did I see just a sore shoulder, digestion issue, pulled back or thyroid problem. I saw that the symptoms were reflecting or telling a story of something much more important. Our pain and discomfort is trying to show us where our thinking, perceptions and beliefs got off track. The symptom is trying to show us where we had let others be them parents, teachers, preachers, peers, society at large and/or our own experiences turned us into negative thinkers. It shows us where we went from life affirming states of mind to denial which leads to blocked chi and negative thought patterns which lead to misdirected chi. These negative patterns are even passed from generation to generation in the DNA until they are cleared. What some see as hereditary heart disease I might see as someone’s great great grandmother’s wounded heart that was never healed. The wounded heart will stay in the family until healed.

The myriad techniques I have studied allows me to take what I see in the BIGGER picture and work with someone to awaken them to their patterns so that they can be shifted bringing balance aka health back into their lives. The energy body connects mind and body. By working with someone’s energy or chi (life force) you can affect their mind and body. Imagine that we are computers. The hard drive is our mind. The screen is the body which reflects/shows what is on the hard drive. Now you have a hard drive and a screen. How do you interface and work with the hard drive, whose changes are reflected on the screen? We need a keyboard. That keyboard is the energy body, which consist of the meridians, chakras, nadias (kundalini), tan tiens and much more.

Two of my favorite energy techniques are Reiki and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Reiki simply means Universal Life Force. It is what gives and supports life. It’s God stuff! In quantum physics terms it is the Unified Field Theory that some are still looking for. It is what our body systems, the solar systems and all the systems in the universe float within and rely upon. Reiki is one form of many that teaches one how to feel and direct this life force to bring harmony back to one’s body and life. I have been practicing and teaching Reiki for over ten years.

I created my own form of EFT called Meridian Energy Activation and Neutralization. It blends EFT with Traditional Chinese Medicine's 5 Element Theory. Basically, by focusing on a discomfort and tapping or rubbing certain meridian points the issue is neutralized and/or cleared from the mind and body. Meridians are rivers of chi that run all over the body. Much like the blood and lymph systems run all through the body. There are 12 major meridians hundreds of others. The meridians are what acupuncturist place needles in to balance one’s chi flow. We don’t have to use needles though.

I beat my head against the wall for many years until I got the bigger. Now it is my specialty. My hard earned specialty of seeing the BIGGER picture has become a gift. My gift is understanding, which leads to letting go/ forgiveness which leads to balance/healing. A gift I love to share. I gift I have to share. It wells up in me so much that I can’t help but give it. It is why I am here and it is what I will continue to do. I will never retire. With every new day and session I get to understand more and help more.

Every session I do is different. It depends on what people walk in the door with and what they are ready and willing to address. I am game for anything! I meet people where they are. If they want a massage fine I will do that, and if they want to reach for the stars I’ll do that too. I love it when someone shows up at my office 100% saying “Let’s do this…let’s go for it!” No brakes or “We can’t go here or there.” To the degree someone shows up is the degree I can help them shift. -Jon Whatley

A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it. He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors inflamed and engulfed him. He jumped from his truck, screaming. His neighbor came out of her house with a dozen eggs, yelling: "bring me more eggs!" She broke them, separating the whites from the yolks. The neighbor woman helped her to apply the whites on the young man's face. When the ambulance arrived and when the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done this. Everyone pointed to the lady in charge. They congratulated her and said: "You have saved his face." By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her. His face was like a baby's skin.


Keep in mind this treatment of burns which is included in teaching beginner fireman this method. First aid consists to spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced and stops burning the layers of skin. Then, spread egg whites on the affected are.

One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg white from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.

She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.
